The ongoing civil war in Sudan, which erupted in April 2023, has caused a humanitarian catastrophe. More than 15,000 civilians have been killed and nearly 8.5 million people have been displaced. The dire situation has left more than 25 million Sudanese in urgent need of assistance, making it one of the world's worst hunger crises, according to the United Nations.
Despite the challenges of accessing the war-torn country, Türkiye has been at the forefront of the relief efforts. Under the leadership of the Turkish Red Crescent, a coalition of aid organizations, including Hayrat Aid, mobilized to assemble a ship laden with essential supplies. The ship departed from Mersin International Port in Türkiye and recently arrived in Port Sudan.
The Kindness Ship carried vital food, hygiene items, and other basic necessities to support the Sudanese people affected by the crisis. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our generous donors for making this humanitarian mission possible.
