The civil war that has raged in Yemen since 2015 has caused 233,000 deaths, left many with permanent injuries, and destroyed the homes of many others. The Yemeni people now face unimaginable hardships due to the war's devastating effects—deprived of shelter, warm meals, and even clean water, the very essence of life. Yemen bleeds as civilians perish, and innocent children continue to be orphaned.
A staggering 131,000 people have succumbed to hunger, inadequate healthcare, and collapsing infrastructure. In 2020 alone, over 1,500 civilians lost their lives, and the humanitarian crisis in Yemen worsens daily. Nearly 16 million people lack access to clean water, and survival has become a desperate struggle as infrastructure systems lie in ruins. Reliance on unsafe water sources leads thousands to contract deadly diseases daily.
The UN World Food Programme reports that the Yemeni rial has lost 250% of its value since the war began, while food prices have surged by 140%. Access to food is now one of Yemen’s most critical challenges. While much of the world wastes enough resources to eliminate global hunger multiple times over, millions in Yemen, Syria, Somalia, and across Africa battle famine.
Our organization is racing to deliver emergency aid—drinking water, food parcels, winter clothing, and more—to the helpless people of Yemen, working tirelessly to heal their wounds. Through our Ramadan and Eid al-Adha campaigns, we stand by our brothers and sisters in Yemen, and we will never abandon them.
