Prosthetic and Rehabilitation Support for Syria and Gaza
Limb loss can affect not only a person's mobility but also their ability to independently meet daily needs, participate in education, and work life. As Hayrat Aid, we provide prosthetic and rehabilitation support to those in need who have suffered limb loss due to war and conflicts.
We carry out our work for those in need in Syria and for our Gazan brothers and sisters who have been evacuated to Egypt due to insufficient access to prosthetic and rehabilitation services in Gaza. We aim to help them move more independently through support covering various stages, from the preparation of a suitable prosthesis to its application and rehabilitation process.
Need for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation in Gaza
According to WHO's May 2026 update, more than 5,000 traumatic limb amputations are estimated to have occurred in Gaza. Of the 2,277 amputees assessed between September 2024 and May 2026, only 502 were fitted with prostheses. Rehabilitation services remain inadequate to meet the need due to severe limitations in healthcare infrastructure capacity, expert personnel, and access to necessary materials.
As Hayrat Aid, we support the processes of our brothers and sisters evacuated from Gaza to Egypt who need prosthetic support in well-equipped medical centers in Egypt.
Prosthetic Support in Syria
The need for prosthetic and physical rehabilitation services continues in Syria due to the effects of many years of war, accidents, and unexploded ordnance.
In our clinics and workshops in the region, we carry out measurement, custom prosthesis production, and application processes according to the condition of those in need. Thus, we contribute to helping people with limb loss regain their mobility and live their daily lives more independently.
How do we provide prosthetic support?
Our field teams and expert health personnel plan prosthetic support according to the needs of the individual.
• Assessment and measurement: In Syria, suitability for prostheses and necessary measurements are carried out in local workshops, and in Egypt, in partner medical centers.
• Custom prosthesis: The production or procurement of a prosthesis suitable for the person's anatomical structure and movement needs is ensured.
• Application and rehabilitation: After the prosthesis is applied, standing, walking training, physical therapy, and adaptation processes are supported.
How much is the prosthetic donation cost?
The costs of prosthesis production, application, and rehabilitation vary according to the region where the work is carried out:
• Syria prosthesis cost: 1,800 USD
• Prosthesis cost for Gazan beneficiaries in Egypt: 4,400 USD
