Serving mosques is a great virtue and leads to a unique reward, as it ensures the continuation of worship and knowledge for generations. Indeed, the virtue of building a masjid is stated in the Holy Quran as follows:

“Only those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, give zakat, and fear none but Allah shall maintain the mosques of Allah. It is hoped that they will be among the guided.” (Surah At-Tawbah: 18)

Our Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) explained the virtue of building a masjid as follows:

“Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him a similar house in Paradise.” (Bukhari, Salat: 65)

This reward promised for serving masjids encompasses all kinds of services, big or small. Indeed, it is narrated that even our Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) contributed to the cleaning of Masjid al-Nabawi when the time came:

“The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) used to clean the dust of the mosque with a palm branch.” (Ibn Abi Shaybah, Al-Musannaf, 1/349, No: 4019)
