Despite being one of the largest economies in Southeast Asia, Indonesia's small businesses (SMEs) continue to struggle with economic instability. Street vendors, who often rely on their small businesses as their sole source of income, struggle to expand due to a lack of capital, making it difficult for them to achieve sustainable earnings. According to 2023 data, while small businesses contribute 61% to Indonesia's GDP, many cannot sustain their operations due to economic bottlenecks, which affects not only families but also the local economy as a whole.
But supporting small entrepreneurs is not just about economic growth—it is also a step towards greater social welfare. That's exactly why we launched GEROBAK - Indonesia Sustainable Development Project.
At Hayrat Aid, we are establishing a sustainable business model for low-income or income-less orphaned families in Indonesia through our "GEROBAK" (Mobile Food Cart) project. Through this campaign, we provide food and beverage carts (Gerobak), start-up capital and necessary equipment to those who want to start their own business but lack the financial means.
This program is more than just business support—it transforms into a cycle of kindness fueled by generous contributions from donors.
Through the GEROBAK Project:
• Orphaned families and those in need will start their own businesses.
• Local economies are revitalized and unemployment is reduced.
• A portion of the proceeds are directed to the Orphanage, Tahfiz and Vocational Training Centers.
• Our generous donors create a lasting social impact through their sadaqah and zakat donations.
Cost of One Gerobak: $770
Note: Donors who fully sponsor a Gerobak will have their name written on a special plaque on the food cart they support.
