We are building permanent homes for needy Muslim refugee families living in the Kombolcha–Argopa region of Ethiopia. Within the scope of our Ethiopia Permanent Housing Project, which we carry out with the motto 'A Home for Every Family,' we aim to build 50 houses in the first phase and a total of 100 houses in the long term. With our project, we aim to help families have safe and private living spaces and contribute to children growing up in better conditions.
Permanent Housing Project for Refugee Families in Ethiopia
Families in need of shelter in the Kombolcha–Argopa region of Ethiopia are forced to live with multiple families in wooden shacks due to inadequate housing facilities. These conditions make it difficult for families to maintain their privacy and lead their daily lives in suitable conditions.
As Hayrat Aid, we aim to improve the crowded and inadequate housing conditions by building a separate house for each family.
With this permanent housing project, we support families in having their own living spaces and obtaining homes they can use for a long time.
Features of the Houses in the Ethiopia Permanent Housing Project
The houses we have planned according to the basic housing needs of the families will consist of an indoor living area and a garden.
The features of the houses planned to be built within the project are:
• 24 m² indoor living space
• 21 m² garden area
• A separate house for each family
• Interior layout suitable for daily living needs
• Durable construction approach for long-term use
With these houses, we aim for families to meet their housing needs in safer conditions and to continue their lives in their own living space.
50 Houses in the First Phase, 100 Houses in the Long Term
We plan to implement the Ethiopia Permanent Housing Project in stages.
• First phase: 50 houses
• Long-term goal: A total of 100 houses
• Project region: Kombolcha–Argopa, Ethiopia
• Target audience: Muslim refugee families in need of shelter
In the first stage, we aim for 50 families to get their own homes, and as resources allow, to expand the project to provide permanent housing for a total of 100 families.
Permanent Living Spaces with School and Mosque Constructions
The Ethiopia Permanent Housing Project does not only consist of housing construction. Taking into account the educational, worship, and social needs of the region, we are also planning the construction of a school and a mosque as part of the project.
With the planned school, we aim to improve educational opportunities for children, and with the mosque, we aim to create a permanent place where the local people can perform their worship and come together.
Thus, by addressing housing, education, and worship needs together, we aim to create permanent works that will make a long-term contribution to the daily lives of families in the region.
