The Meaning and Importance of Circumcision
Circumcision is a practice that has been carried out for centuries, holding great significance both religiously and medically. It has deep roots in Islamic tradition, dating back to the time of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH). The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) considered circumcision part of fitrah (natural disposition) and recommended it as an integral part of a Muslim’s identity.
Beyond its religious aspect, circumcision has scientifically proven health benefits. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), circumcision can reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, by up to 60%, while also playing an effective role in maintaining hygiene and controlling infection risks.
Barriers to Accessing Circumcision in Africa and Asia
Unfortunately, millions of children, especially in Africa and Asia, are unable to undergo circumcision due to economic hardships. Insufficient healthcare infrastructure and financial constraints deprive these children of this basic health practice and the fulfillment of a religious obligation. This situation not only increases health risks but also makes it difficult for them to live in accordance with their cultural and Islamic values.
What We Do
Through our Circumcision Support Programme, we aim to provide free, hygienic, and safe circumcision services to underprivileged children around the world. Through this programme, we:
- Significantly reduce infection risks.
- Contribute to public health.
- Enable the proper fulfillment of a religious obligation.
