Water is one of the most essential needs for human survival, just like food. However, over one billion people worldwide still struggle to access clean water. Every day, around 5,000 children — nearly 2 million per year — lose their lives due to diseases caused by contaminated water and poor hygiene conditions. Most of these deaths occur in African and Asian countries. The main goal of our water well projects is to bring hope, even if just a little, to those living in these harsh conditions.

How Much Does It Cost to Build a Water Well in Africa?

In regions with large Muslim populations, such as Africa and Asia, millions of people face difficulties accessing clean water daily. With the support of our donors, Hayrat Yardım opens new water wells and monitors existing ones across these regions, leading benevolent efforts that change lives.

Who Builds Water Wells in Africa?

Today, many associations and NGOs in Türkiye carry out water well projects in Africa and Asia. As Hayrat Yardım, we operate in 25 countries, extending a helping hand to those in need of clean water. We regularly maintain the wells we build — repairing or replacing damaged parts — to ensure that communities benefit from them for many years.

What Are the Most Reliable Ways to Build a Water Well?

You can contribute to opening water wells in various countries through trusted, experienced, and faith-conscious institutions — including ours — that carefully follow Islamic guidelines and humanitarian standards.

What Is the Cost of a Water Well Share?

There is no minimum amount required for water well donations. Donors who cannot cover the cost of a full well can contribute any amount to our General Water Well Donation campaign. For donations of ₺10,000 or more, the donor’s chosen name can be displayed on the well’s plaque.

Can a Water Well Be Dedicated to a Specific Name?

Yes. For donations of ₺10,000 or more, a water well can be opened with a personalized name. After your donation, a name plaque is prepared and submitted for your approval. Once the well is completed, donors receive photos and videos of their specific well.

Does Building a Water Well Count as Sadaqah?

Yes. Contributing to water well projects — ensuring people access clean and safe water — is among the most virtuous forms of sadaqah jariyah. As long as the well provides benefit, the donor continues to earn spiritual reward.

What Are the Technical Features and Types of Water Wells?

There are four main types of water wells:

Open Wells: Depth 25–40 meters, lifespan 10–15 years, serves 600–800 people.

Hand Pump Wells: Depth 25–100 meters, lifespan 10–15 years, serves 300–400 people.

Electric Motor Wells with Storage: Depth 35–45 meters, lifespan 10–15 years, serves 350–500 people.

Solar-Powered Wells with Storage: Depth 15–30 meters, lifespan 10–15 years, serves 800–3,000 people.
