On September 11, Storm Daniel and the resulting floods caused great destruction in Libya. Derna, a city of about 100,000 inhabitants, was submerged in floods as a result of the collapse of two dams.
The storm also hit the cities of Benghazi, Soussa, Al-Marj on the Eastern Mediterranean. The flood disaster left 3,000 people dead and 7,000 others unaccounted for. The Libyan government has called for international aid.
