On February 6, two devastating earthquakes struck Kahramanmaraş-Pazarcık (7.7) and Elbistan (7.6). The tremors destroyed scores of buildings in 10 neighboring provinces.
Since the very first moment of the disaster, 4 heavy construction equipment, 7 trucks, 750 vehicles and motorcycles have been actively deployed in the region to assist in search & rescue operations. The number of trucks carrying aid materials to the region reached 521 and a total of 5,430 volunteers and personnel, including 673 search & rescue personnel, actively took part in search & rescue and humanitarian aid operations in the region.
11 fixed and 15 mobile kitchens keep operating uninterruptedly. We serve hot meals to those affected by the disaster.
We continued to rush healthy and nutritious food to the region since the very first day of the earthquake. The number of bottled water we rushed to the region was 5,714,985. 8,100,000 loaves of bread, which is also one of the staple foods, were distributed to earthquake-stricken citizens. We delivered 2,486,803 snacks and 261 tons of fresh vegetables and fruits, and distributed canned food and food packages in the region. We also delivered 430,312 canned food and 62,693 food packages to those in need. Similarly, we served 8,934,985 hot meals and soups to earthquake victims through our fixed and mobile kitchens in the region.
